Another Calendar thing

I had fun playing on this page. The first thing I did was glue down those feet and hand that had been floating on my desk for several weeks. It all went from there.
****
I guess this is me because my head is full of notes about things I am about to do. ;0)
****
But things keep breaking down around me. Like this home computer....dead as a doorknob yesterday when we got home from the office.
I'm blessed though because I have a DH who is on top of stuff like that. We are back up with a new power supply that he just happen to have on hand.
****
I picked up my sewing machine. It wasn't as serious as first thought to be. Thank you sewing machine fairy.
****
So now I am going to start sewing and will tell ...

When Life Gives you Eggs...

Make lemon curd. Or something like that. Theses guys to the left are not the egg-givers. They just hang around to be pretty and do a little bugging. I do have a wonderful flock of hens though and they give us 9-10 or 11 eggs a day. I give a lot of eggs away so if you want some...give me a call. You furnish the cartons.

************
Now about those lemons. I believe I mentioned a few disasters happening about me. Things breaking and stuff. The list is too long to share. Other than to say Ashley is OK but a-foot until her car gets out of the shop (she crashed it). Also, we are hand-washing dishes and down to one burner on the stove top.
*************
But that's OK because we love our microwave. And that brings me to Lemon Curd. I had a visit from Darla at Bay Side To Mountain Side and she stayed long enough to say so. I popped over to her place and low and behold she had a microwave Lemon Curd recipe. It looked so simple and sounded so yummy and used EGGS. I went straight home. Well I didn't go straight home. I stopped by the grocery store and picked up some lemons. OMG to die for. You must try it. I won't repeat the recipe here cause Darla has already done that. I will be making and serving this often.
Thanks Darla for stopping by and saying so.

Moo Cards

My first Moo cards arrived. Aren't these just the coolest? Well everybody had them so I wanted some too.
++++++++
I posted last night just before Idol came on and I can sure tell this morning what a hurry I was in. Not just one but many typos. Oh well. I didn't think anyone really stood out last night on Idol so I'm anxious to see who gets the ticket home.
++++++++
Things are just breaking down around me. These thing usually come in 3s. We've passed that up twice now. I won't bother to list it. Although, I've already told you about my "think tank' (lawn mower). Monday morning it was the hot water faucet handle. Yep broke right off with the water running. That's fixed. Then Monday night, I was just about to finish my latest WIP project. I was in the middle of a wild and free zig-zag stitch when BaM! just like that the needle started hitting something below the bobbin case. So I had to make a quick trip to Waco and I'm hoping I can go pick it up this afternoon. I so hope it's not major. It is a poor pitiful old Singer but I love it and I'm not ready to give it up.
++++++++
So what I'm saying is the Lady Jane project is going to have to wait for sewing machine repair. But you know what? This hasn't gotten me down. I'm just rolling with it. And getting my moo cards did make me happy today.

No Vacancy

Here is the Red bird nest that I told you about in my last past. See I knew you would like to see it. The is a bird feeder but it does look like a pretty snazzy house to me too. It even has a a guard on duty. I hope she comes back and lays her eggs because it looks ready. I'll keep you posted.

This is in the pass-along garden. Do you see all those leaves under the feeder, I mean nest? I will eventually manage those. The oleander are from my mother-in-law. I have Salvia from Aunt Sue. Oxallis (sp) from Granny. Lantana from my mother. Rosemary from my friend Susan. A butterfly bush from my brother. A white rose of Sharon from seeds from daughter. If it is ever really presentable, I'll show the whole garden.

I'm going to watch Idol now.

Sunday Company

She is another step closer. It's Lady Jane here today for your visit. I sure hope I get to work on her today but if I do, it will be late.

I really did get time on my "think tank" yesterday. However, not until after 4 o'clock. It had a major problem and all I can say is thank goodness I have "a man around the house". He doesn't do windows. He doesn't do the weed-eater. He doesn't do flower beds, hedges, or raking. He doesn't do the think tank. But, he does do repairs. And he did. Oh yes, he does grow a garden with wonderful vegetables. It's just another example of "function" (him) and "beauty" (me).

Before starting that trip around and around and around I managed to start cleaning a flower bed. That was while the tank was getting and new what-cha-ma-call-it. Then, I started. Let the thinking begin!

On the first trip around the house, I was thinking, I need to measure these flower beds just to see how many feet of beds I have. I was thinking, you might like to know. Then I got around to the back corner and I was thinking, I sure need to limb up that crepe myrtle and get that dang trash tree out of the bed. The next trip around I was thinking I need to call my friend Sharon who moved down the road and tell her to come for the Rose of Sharon plants. I was thinking it was pretty cool for Sharon (me) to give Sharon (her) and Rose of Sharon. I was thinking what a neat "pass-along" plant.

I was thinking that the high winds we had not long ago did a pretty good job of blowing the leaves away. Then I passed by the big pass-along garden and noticed they were all right there. Whew, look at that red bird nest in the bird feeder. I think I will take a picture of that. I know you would like to see that. I think.

I was thinking, I sure need to refill the other feeders and it's time for the hummingbirds. I think I need to service there station. Oh my gosh, I think I need to get busy with these beds. I can sure tell they were neglected last year when I rediscovered ART. About this time I looked back and thought, "good grief, just like magic, this part of the yard is looking so pretty and almost done".

Then I passed the patios and thought I need to give all that furniture and new coat of spray paint. I think I will put that on my list. Oh, look at the Klimt garden. The benches need a good wipe down and another coat of polyurethane. I try to do that each year; however, I think I missed last year.....ART.

Well I have run out of time for today but as you can see, I get a lot of thinking done.

Company for today

I thought this pretty lady might keep you company while I go "balance" a bit of yard work today.

She is my work in progress at the moment. Actually, she is in color but my color scan didn't make me happy. So I thought I would show you this way first. She is painted on muslin with acrylics and has already changed a bit since this scan.

I think you will like her so check back.

Now I must go jump on my "think tank"....I know I said I was doing that last weekend...too wet....so now here I go

Calendar Doodle for the week

Well this is real honest to goodness doodling. I'm just practicing and it's lots of fun. I'm trying to do the Tracie Bautista style of text. In case you would like to know, I used ZIG Memory System Calligraphy pens for the large text. I have had this set for a long time but have not really used them. Let me tell you, they work wonderful on fabric as this is what I used on my SHE bag. They are pigment ink, waterproof, and non-bleeding. It's true, they don't bleed on fabric. The other thing I really like and discovered today while doodling is they work very well over the watercolor crayons which is what I used here. The colored text is under the crayons and the black text is on top. Oh dear, gotta go....time for Gray's A

I'm Late I'm Late

To Artsymama's International Tea Party.
She has invited you too so go have some tea by just clicking here.
I didn't think I would be able to make it to the party. Well, I just popped in this morning and they were having so much fun that I wanted to play to. The above is a page is from my altered book that I did last year listing all the things I love. I thought it was pretty cool that my list had "hot tea with lemon and spring and summer" This being the first day of spring and all.
I recently spent some time "trying" to photograph my collection of tea cups for a project and so I put together this little story board to show you. Sorry, the colors are not true. These really are beautiful and I cherish them because they were my Aunts'.
Hope you will join the tea party. They are having great fun. When you get there you will discover why.

Art-To-Go-Bag

This one is mine! I'm calling it my "She" Bag. I made it especially for me to carry my art-to-go stuff. It has five pockets.
It is a "SHE" bag because I like to use "she" statements with my ladies.
She kept her head up, she felt pretty.
She danced...she loved...she laughed.
She almost expected fairies to come tiptoeing.
She wouldn't do a thing but sit in her room and read and write poetry.

Inspired by a project in Traci Bautista's book Collage Unleashed. I really like how she does her hand lettered words and so I tried that. And I just can't get enough of the freestyle stitching.
She was about the game.
I did six fabric collages with my ladies who where printed on paper. I showed them in previous post. I used Clear Tar Gel for fusing. There wasn't room on the outside for all of them so I made pockets inside too. I'll be doing this again. Won't it fun to carry!

It's All About the Green....today

I saw this prince yesterday at my office back door as I was leaving. Well, I didn't chance it...I'm just going to assume he was a prince. Happy Saint Patrick to you.

A new project underway.....thought you might like to see a little bit.......

Calendar Doodle for the week

Its all about the green. That is probably what I will be doing this weekend it if gets dry enough. You might remember my think-tank that I ride around on for about 4 or 5 hours and then just like magic everything is mowed and all pretty. Well we have had over 5 inches of rain in the last week and the clover is up and will totally get out of hand if I don't get after it.

Timothy spent some time last week in search of a 4 leaf...to no avail. I found them with my oil pastels here at my desk. Then I topped it all of with a few tissue ones. This one is about being "in a good place".
I am.

Lady George Purse

I'm getting a little faster. I painted the lady two weekends ago. This past weekend I made the purse. It is a version of another design and the first time I've used the plastic handles. Not sure if you can tell the handle is purple. I'm pleased.
Bedtime now....

Lady B is a new purse

I really love how she turned out. This is a large tote with an oval set in bottom. I posted some other views at my flickr spot.

Had a great day with friends. Now I must go cook and then maybe a little time for ART.

Calendar Doodle for the week

A glorious Friday! Don't you think?
Well, you can see I was very busy this week with appointments, phone calls, things to remember etc... ;0 ) Therefore, I'm showing you the whole page to prove it....;0 )
I put the finishing touches on this this morning. That would be the part of the page that I actually gave thought to. It made sense to me to add the hands from today's newspaper but I really can't tell you why because I don't know. Then I added the border along the side with a homemade stamp. Seemed perfect to me.
If you don't doodle, you really should. Doodle means "to draw aimlessly". Yesterday while I was drawing aimlessly, I realized how relaxing this exercise was. Just let your pencil, pen, crayons flow over the page without expecting any end results. Make marks and follow them. Everything you do does not have to be ART. But it might surprise you when you finish and like it.
More later,
Sharon
I hope you try it and then let me know so I can come see your doodle. Oh yes, I really really love it when you have things to say about my doodle.

Good morning...spring

I wanted to show you that spring in Texas has officially sprung. The redbud trees are so beautiful that I wanted to share them with you.
Tim is my morning commuting partner and he noticed that I matched the tree and said I should be in the picture. He is my official photographer. I'm squinting because the sun is so bright today. That is a good thing.

My solar panels soak it up and energize me. I'm still working on the you-know-what...purse. Hopefully I will finish tonight.

I brought my "big girl" colors to play on my calendar this week but I haven't started yet. It is my lunch break fun and I think today is the day.

Hey Look....OK just teasing

Here is a little tease.

Maybe I will finish tonight.

I'm feeling so much better.

Thank you to all the well wishers.

I think that is what helped me the most.

I was feeling good enough for ART this weekend.

Now I just need to feel good enough for housework.

You've Seen Her Before

Well, I'm not up to par yet but this is what I worked on yesterday. It's Lady B and you've see her before. Here she is painted on muslin and today I will decide what I will do with her. I have some thoughts. And you know I will show when done.

Here she is when she debuted in September.
You can read that if you just click here.

I thought it would be fun to see other
places that she has shown her face.

She was in my HeART journal in February.
You remember, MaryB won in the drawing.

Here she is printed on tissue and fused with other bits and made into a purse.

She found her way onto some ATCs.
Note to self, I need to do that again.

It's true, she is a favorite and I still have a lot of plans for this lady. One more thing......
you have not seen this.

The other side of my studio. What a mess! I wouldn't have it any other way. It doesn't bother me if it doesn't bother you. Actually, there was a tissue paper explosion that I cleaned out last week. So, it looks great today.
More later,
Sharon
Oh yes, one more thing, she was the starting sketch on my True Colors "red" page which was used on my valentine.

Calendar Doodle for the week

I know the week is not over, but I feel like )#$&&@*(_!heck)@#$*)#. My family passed a germ to me. Germs usually bypass me but this one snuck down my throat and is making its self at home. Zapping me!
I doodled these fun fantasy flowers and then before I knew it they were flower fairy houses.
