Welcome to my Sewing Studio

Come In......

You could better appreciate the transformation of this room had I taken "before" photos.

This is and "empty nest" (thank the lord) bedroom that is now a wonderful Sewing Studio.

It can still double as a guest room. One could only hope that the warriors on the wall will protect them in their dreams rather than give them nightmares.

I made the kites in 1980s to decorate a back yard where we were having a themed neighborhood progressive dinner. They are not my design as I did in fact copy them from a book. Sorry, I could not find the book this morning to credit it.

My friend, the organization guru knew about the kites and the last thing we did was arrange the kite gallery. I really really do like the eclectic look and juxtaposition of the kites with the quilts. I will be changing the window treatment next. A Sewing project.

Expect it,

Sharon

Studio Tour

I decided it was time to share. My organization guru is coming for the weekend and I'm very pleased with the results of my renovation (cleanup) of my ART studio. She will be too. With the exception of one or two small projects, I have slowly but surely finished this huge chore. You can't know how good it feels to go into the studio now and be amazed with the room. It is so inspiring. For so long this was the room used for very little crating and simply a place to put stuff. From the very beginning this was a doll studio and the plentiful storage cabinets were filled. Because of this when I started crating again there was no place to put new supplies for my new passion of mixed media and altered art. I stacked stuff on the floor and all the horizontal surfaces. I reached the "enough" place and had to do something.

The decision to separate my sewing from my mixed media art took me a while to make and thankfully, my guru pushed me to it. Now she is coming this weekend to help me organize the sewing studio. She is amazing but boy of boy she has no idea what she is getting into.

That's what we will be doing this weekend.

Expect me back Monday,

Sharon

Love at First Sight

"Meeting"
6 x 12 canvas

Sometimes, I just want to share in pictures what I've painted. And I draw a blank as to what to say and what to tell you about it. This is one of those times except to say we met this summer. And then he brought his bride to the bath just beyond my kitchen window. They came often and I watched each time in awe. It was love at first sight.

********

I will be listing this in my Etsy shop. I always forget to tell you that. Also I've listed a print of my last "Telling Secrets" painting. The original sold quickly and I thank you for that.

Arizona

Arizona Birthday Party

I arrived with nothing for the birthday girl except two ART projects for her party. I took my little bag of tricks to the bedroom and made her a birthday card.

Our first project was Castle Towers which is fun for all ages.
After Mug Cakes, we colored Tree Spirit Flags. This project was a collaboration as I had already drawn the spirits.

SISTERS

This was Linnea's (on right) Golden Birthday.

Aubrey's Golden Birthday is January 12, 2011. EXPECT

*************************

The short version of what happened to me after returning from AZ is the first couple of days, I was lazy. And then when I was ready to post pictures from home discovered problems with home computer. It is working but will not let me open photo card.

All is good here.

Expect tomorrow,

Sharon

Things to do

Bindweed otherwise known as Wild Morning Glory is growing on this building across the driveway of my office. The city volunteers will be cleaning up this weekend while I'm away.
Now I ask you, could you whack down something so beautiful?
They will.
Sorry, I just needed to get that out.
You can read my "about me" in the sidebar to see how I feel about it.

Workshop things-to-do.......
almost all checked off.

Heard from my sister-in-law just now and she told me, "DO NOT bring your white gloves and DO wear your rose colored glasses.
I got it.
Expect me back,
Sharon

Workshop Packets

I labored yesterday in my new Sewing Studio where
I had an explosion of fabric, lace, ribbons and wallpaper.
GUESS WHAT???????
I'm going to Arizona this very next Friday to a little girls 12th Birthday Party.
She has invited her sister and 4 others.
And
I was invited on a whim.
And
I booked my flights and then said YES, I'm coming.
And
With two ART projects.
And
It will be a birthday party workshop.
And
I made these packets of supplies.
And
The packets are exactly size 8 X 10.
And
Do you get it?
Yep, could be framed......party favors.
And
Can you tell that I'm excited?
Expect excitement,
Sharon

Secrets

She has secrets, even though I shared her progress.
So, I will call her "Secrets".
Expect more fun tomorrow,
Sharon

Still painting

More "in progress"

I'm having a great holiday.
After hours of staring, I'm back to painting her.
It is absurd that I started with a sketch that was purposely wacky.
Then spent hours trying to un-wack her.
I'm getting close.
Expect me later,
Sharon

Erase with Gesso

During the "stare" procedure one can get determined and get the guts to erase.
Staring made me realize that I did not want the light source coming from the right but rather from straight on.
That meant I would need to erase the line to the left of her nose which is created by that light source.
Staring also made me wish her mouth was lower and more centered.
Now it is.
Because I erased with Gesso and started over with layering paint in.
I'm no where near finished as I haven't even started with flesh colors.
I thought you might enjoy seeing the results of yesterday's "stare" procedure
and
this morning's ART.
I'm giddy with excitement of a three day weekend.
Expect her to be finished during my next session.
Sharon
